Travelodge Covent Garden

“All works were completed ahead of schedule to an exceptional level. Engineers along with external contractors worked well together to ensure a smooth transaction while still running a 600+ bed Hotel. It was great to have a company who understood the stressful environment of a busy London Hotel taking into consideration both customers and staff. Thank you.”

Project Overview

As the brands flagship hotel customer comfort is priority for the Central London property therefore the introduction and installation of VRF comfort cooling and heating systems provided a dual purpose solution to the brands objectives to improve guest experience whilst reducing heating season energy consumption 33% by replacing the existing primary source of heating with a more energy efficient solution. The new energy efficient solution offset comfort cooling energy requirements for the property.

Benefits to the Client

There has seen a reduction in energy consumption and therefore reducing the property’s carbon footprint whilst providing guests with a comfortable environment subsequently improving guest experience..

Project Budget

£2,200,000.00

Project Details

The project consisted of the installation of 450No Samsung fan coil units connected to 45No Samsung VRF condensing units.

Samsung’s 1-blow fan coil units were selected due to the depth of existing ceiling void therefore eliminating the requirement of ceiling bulkheads and their subsequent costs whilst condensing units were sited without the use of a crane therefore eradicating the need for road closures, the associated costs and disruption.

The project was completed on a full turnkey basis with Temperature Control carrying out all electrical provision installations and associated builder’s works whilst fulfilling the Principal Contractor role.

The hotel remained live throughout the project and due to the property’s central location ideal for both business and leisure cliental alike the hotel experiences extremely high occupancy levels between May and December therefore a short fourth month window was allowed for the 450No bedroom installations to be carried out.

Challenges

Temperature Control developed and executed a 7-day programme with the businesses specific requirements in mind allowing for the bedroom installation to take place within the quieter timeframe with minimal disruption to the business.

Results

The result of listening to the client’s needs whilst understanding their business requirements and expectations allowed Temperature Control to deliver the project within budget and within programme whilst maintaining quality throughout.
